World War 2.5(B)

A while back, I made World War 2.5, to lampoon the "Putin is literally Hitler" crowd. I find such comparisons unhelpful and, frankly, ridiculous. Now Trump has been the target of Godwin's Law, so I decided to make a take on World War 2.5 with the Americans as the Third Reich. As always, this isn't the most serious scenario, taking the parallels to a deliberately absurd extreme. It exists in a world with no nuclear weapons, and no sense of historical perspective. 

Please keep things civil in the comments. Don't take this too seriously, because I sure as hell didn't.

President Trump promised to Make America Great Again, and to the American people, that was music to their ears. The Americans lost the War on Terror, were in another economic depression, and they felt that their leaders were doing nothing to stop it. The destruction wrought by Trump's presidential campaign on the political establishment created a core of followers that allowed Trump to win the presidency under the newly-formed National Party, a breakaway of the Republicans after the GOP "stole" the nomination from Trump at the Republican National Convention. The first months of Trump's regime were chaotic, as he had a hostile political class attacking him at every turn. This allowed him to strongarm his way into absolute power, which he promptly used to have his enemies disposed of by various means. By the end of 2017, Trump was the absolute ruler of the United States, and he intended to make it greater than ever before. 

American militarization was surprising to the world, but given the hostile position of China and Russia, it was justifiable in the eyes of the West. What surprised the world was the positive relationship between Trump and Vladimir Putin, which began as an agreement on the Middle East and eventually blossomed into an alliance. Trump made a deal with China, dividing the Korean peninsula after the North Koreans invaded the South. However, he alienated the West via his aggressive actions in North America, which brought the nationalist regime in Brazil on his side. Mexico and Cuba fell to the Americans without a shot, but after America's invasion of Canada, the British had had enough. While the rest of the European Union did not join the war, the British decided to go it alone. The Americans ignored them, opting instead to invade Latin America and secure it. The Americans did bomb Britain, but not enough to destroy the country. 

The war changed form in 2024, when the Americans invaded China, and the Russians invaded the European Union. Both attacks were intended to destroy the only remaining obstacles to each country's hegemony, and both sides intended to divide the world between themselves, as it had been during the Cold War. These devastating surprise attacks have forced China and the EU into alliance with Britain.

The Americas have been secured by the Greater United States and their Brazilian allies. Both are dictatorships, although the Americans have a racial angle that the Brazilians do not. In American society, whites and Asians are at the top of society, with blacks underneath, Hispanics even further below, and Muslims of all races considered to be "enemies of the state," deported to American "re-education" camps in Alaska and Cuba. Likewise, political opponents - ranging from liberals to anti-Trump conservatives - are placed into camps. Resistance in Latin America is vicious, as the people naturally do not want to be reduced to slavery, leading to brutal American reprisal. 

In Europe, the Russian advance goes well, as the European armies desperately attempt to rearm. The war has transformed the EU into a true federation - sans the UK, which left in 2017 - one under an emergency military government. Russia, likewise, is under a military government itself; the aging Putin does not have as much power as he used to. The Russians are far more concerned about the war in the Middle East, where Sunni, Shia and Islamic State forces have united against the Russian invasion in a "united front." The Russians have used chemical weapons on this front, in an attempt to mitigate the numbers advantage the Islamic alliance has. 

The most brutal fighting in the world goes on in the East, where the totalitarian American and Chinese governments seek the total annihilation of the other. The Chinese navy is now under the sea, but their army is still massive. The Americans are outnumbered almost eight to one, but what they lack in numbers, they make up for with better technology, skill, and sheer brutality. Here, there are no rules of engagement; entire cities are bombarded with all manner of weapon of mass destruction, civilian and soldier alike are enslaved or killed, and no quarter is asked for or given. It is a war of annihilation.

The Allies are gradually losing the war. While they have agreed to make demands for unconditional surrender from the Nationalists, and not to make any separate peace, this is growing increasingly unrealistic. The Nationalists may have spread themselves thin, but British and European forces in particular are greatly depleted. The Russians are just waiting for the Chinese to lose a crucial battle before joining their American allies and getting a slice of the pie. And of course, the United States Navy rules the waves, and even if the Allies win in the Old World, they still have the New World secured. Things look bleak for the Allies, and Trump may just get his New Order.
