Description

Based on VivaLaVida's suggestion that TL-191 would be vastly improved if some sides switched from the Great War to the Second Great War.

At school, it always bothered me that the Second Great War was just a "rerun" of the Great War, with a more evil Entente. So what if some of the nations switched sides between the two wars? I know it seems unlikely, but hey, the Confederacy's secession was a close-run thing, and the Japanese all but switched sides in the Second Great War. History can do weird things.

The main change here is that age-old point of divergence - the Whites lose the Russian Civil War to the Reds. But in this case, it happened because the war lasted longer and the Socialist government in the United States actively armed the Reds. This places huge strain on the German-American alliance, which breaks by the 1930s. The British reconcile with the Germans, as in this world the Silver Shirts never take power, and both imperial monarchies agree that communism is the greater threat. The French are still taken over by Action Française, and make an unholy alliance with the communist "Soviet Union" in a plan to take down Germany. Japan, eager to expand southward into British and Dutch possessions, joins these "Allied Powers," but I suspect they will turn on their allies as they did in our history. The Confederacy's history is similar to our own, with the Freedom Party taking power and gearing up for round two, and Germany's other allies remain loyal.

Who do you think will win this Second Great War?

I like how this ends up mirroring OTL anyway.
