Another short one. The Resistance series without the Chimera.

  • The PoD is Spain deciding to give Cuba its independence, thus butterflying the Spanish-American War away.
  • The Great War still happens, and the Americans never enter the war. This leads to the Germans ultimately surrendering, but negotiating from a much stronger position. The Kaiser still falls, but Germany retains its territorial integrity.
  • The Bolsheviks are crushed by Tsar Mikhail II, but the Russians were left out of the Versailles treaty. This left an Entente-supported Poland, Finland and Baltics maintaining their independence. This angered the Russians quite a bit, leading to the Second Great Game. The Russians build the Red Curtain over their European frontier, and cut off all contact with the West by 1921.
  • After the Great War, the European Trade Organization is formed. This organization is dedicated to maintaining peace in Europe, and treats Germany as an integral part of the alliance as much as France and Britain. Combined with no Great Depression, Nazism and its offshoots are strangled in the crib.
  • In the meanwhile, Japan continues its expansion throughout Asia, eventually getting into a proxy war with the West over China in the 1930s. The Russians are also heavily involved, and the Japanese and Russians compete for influence over northern China. The war ends by the mid-1940s, but China is a mess.
  • As the 1940s give way to the 1950s, the main conflict in the world is the ETO-Russian "Second Great Game." Decolonization is only considered by radical leftists in Europe, and even the Russians are hesitant to support these movements because of their radicalism (they will make exceptions, however). Russia is still a Tsarist autocracy, although Mikhail II is aging and so are his advisers. His son, George Mikhailovich, is a party animal and is considered an ill-suited leader for Russia, particularly as the communists stir.
  • Meanwhile, somewhere in the Australian desert, the British detonate the first atomic bomb....

I'm a bit late to this party, but I do recall the Resistance Timeline does seem to mention the existence of an independent Belarus, Georgia, & Ukraine:
