Description

The Gladius-class destroyer is one of the older ship designs used by the Alliance Navy. Simple, rugged, and effective, the Gladius is intended primarily to shield an Alliance fleet from incoming drones and missiles, while itself launching torpedoes toward the enemy. Occasionally, Gladius destroyers will be deployed in-atmosphere to defend Marines against incoming drones and missiles, or deployed in orbit to serve as fire support. Being a smaller ship and considered largely expendable by the Alliance Navy, the Gladius is not equipped with energy shielding or drone bays. This is a point of pride among Gladius crews, who see themselves as tougher warriors for taking such a risk.
