Description

Another cover of Ephraim Ben Raphael's An Examination of Extra-Universal Systems of Government, and this time it's of the world of the Iberian National Confederation. As always, many thanks to Ephraim Ben Raphael himself, who provided me with the information I needed to make this. The bullet points are his, too.

  • The EF is pretty powerful and America's No. 2, it's also dominated by France.
  • The Cold War never ended, and although the USSR's market reforms (a la China) improved things considerably, there are still a lot of tensions and hot-spots out there.
  • China has clung to more orthodox communism and is firmly split from the Soviets.
  • The Kowloon Walled City remains a thing.
  • India is still under the Nehru/Gandhi INC dynasty, and is poorer and more authoritarian than OTL. New Delhi is closely allied to Moscow.
  • In Pakistan, Jinnah lived rather longer and took his country on a very different path.
  • Africa's just as much as mess as OTL- if not slightly worse- but while some countries are worse off than OTL, others are better off.
  • There's still a lot of poverty in the Republic of the Congo (Léopoldville), and a history of tribal warfare in the countryside, but it's a stable flawed democracy, a regional power, and along with Brazil is one of the leaders of TTL's nonaligned movement.

The fact that the Cold War is still going in the 2010s will make social media *insufferable*, assuming it exists as we know it. Echoing a previous comment, this definitely is an interesting world that I'd say is worse than ours overall, but better than OTL in some spots.

Also city-state South Vietnam is hilarious.
