Description
It looks like the rivalries of 1776 have returned, because the British and the Americans are at each others' throats. From what we could tell from both sides' propaganda, the split began with differences over what to do with the former Soviet Union and the progress of decolonialism in Asia. It seems that the Americans were backing Uncle Ho in Vietnam against the Anglo-French Vietnamese kingdom, and the Americans were arming the Algerians. Things are pretty tense between the two blocs, but there's less ideological rivalry between them.
Domestically, things are a bit different. The United States is definitely further left than ours, with some self-proclaimed socialists getting far in the Democratic Party. The Indians are governed by socialists, but they're still democratic and there's a sizable center-right opposition. The Chinese, on the other hand, they'd fit right in on our People's Republic, if they changed some rhetoric and the flags.
On the other end, the British are more conservative, and Labour hasn't been the majority since the 60s. The British are proud of their empire, I mean scary proud. They've lost a good bit of it, and they're clearly desperate to hold onto the bits they have left. The French are even worse about it, and that seems to be bleeding into their attempt to keep total control of the European Union. That's led to some friction with the British, but the British are clearly the top dogs. The Intermarum is a corrupt mess, and some parts of it are threatening to break away, but the British would never let that happen. As for the Tsardom of Russia, let's just say they resemble the Soviets more than they'd like to admit.
