What if the Entente won the Second Great War in TL-191? Made for David bar Elias' TL-191 : After the End: [link]

The PoD is the Snake giving Professor FitzBelmont the funding he wanted in 1941. The US superbomb program is attacked earlier and with more success. Meanwhile, in Europe, the British invasion of Norway succeeds. The war ends with the Entente launching crippling superbomb strikes against the Central Powers. Many of the cities bombed are still ruined and the Entente occasionally uses them for testing bioweapons (I assume that Unit 731's actions make testing bioweapons on civilians is a cheap way to draw parallels to the Ishii regime). The Central Powers have been utterly dismembered and become playgrounds for the sociopathic leaders of the Entente.

After the war, the Entente turned on one another. The French have defended Quebec against the machinations of Canada's McGregor regime, and as payback the Anglo-Japanese alliance moved against the French in Indochina. The French and Russians have formed the Continental Entente to curb the British and Japanese, while the Freedom Party works on consolidating its power in the New World as an unaligned kingmaker. The Continental Entente and the Anglo-Japanese alliance faced off against one another in what was called the "Silent War," where the two sides feared superbomb and sunbomb annihilation. However, by the beginning of the book, conflicting interests in Afghanistan have started a war between the Russians and British-aligned Afghanistan. It's only a matter of time before the war expands and the entire world is plunged in another death struggle.

This is really fucking good. I actually love the background history you have for after the SGW. We've seen Germany-Japan Cold Wars in Axis vistory scenarios, so this is very nice. Hence I added it to my favourites.

Thanks. To be quite honest, this isn't the most plausible of scenarios, but neither are Axis victories or TL-191 itself.

I may work on one where the Central Powers lose WWI and win WWII, complete with President McSweeny, but I have to figure out a way to make Europe different from OTL. I want to avoid too much parallelism.

Hmm. That would actually be very interesting. You could do what Turtledove did only reverse the equation, making the US the awful Nazi-analogue. However a different take would be the US turning Red.

Then it's an alliance of convenience with Fascistic Germany and an Authoritarian radical-lefty USA against the powers of the establishment; CSA, UK, France and Russia.

Maybe a red Germany and fascist US? I'm insisting on a fascist US because of the old theory floating around that the US was to become the Nazi Germany analogue. Having Germany become red while Russia goes white would be a reversal akin to what Turtledove does all the time in TL-191.

I somehow get the feeling that Nazi/Fascist US wouldn't be able to stomach an alliance with Communists. However Red Germany would be easy enough to do.

But yes the Red Germany vs White Russia is always a fun one to do.

Anyway if the CPs were to win the Second Great War, would the Union be for outright annexation of the Confederacy or just retaking lost land? Because you could get some very good Nazi parallels if they go for full out annexation of basically the entireity of North America. A General-Governership of Quebec?

I think a fascist US would be able to stomach it if it keeps its ambitions within the Western Hemisphere. Remember, the US never expands past the North American continent in TL-191, so they could have the idea that the US should be master of the Western Hemisphere while "decadent Europe" and "barbarian lands" could spend their time killing each other, a more extreme version of the Monroe Doctrine. Something akin to Japan's GEACPS? There could be an unspoken promise to destroy the communists after the war is over, leading to a fascist/communist cold war.

For added irony, Germany's main ally is red Italy, still under a Mussolini that stayed with the socialists.

A fascist Union would definitely annex the Confederacy, and probably Canada as with canon TL-191. I'm not sure how they'd deal with Mexico. My idea with a President McSweeney is a religious, as opposed to (overtly) racist, bigotry, so he wouldn't want more Catholics "ruining" the country. Either that, or Mexico and other Catholic countries are annexed and their populations are reduced to virtual slaves.

Well there is Liberia and Ireland as their puppets, but yes they do not "expand" beyond North America.

Isn't Italy usually neutral and riding high of profits made by selling weapons to both sides during the Great Wars in TL-191? Though it has to be said Red Mussolini is always a nice touch for AH.

Hmm, what about White Russia then? I did just come up with an idea for that you could use. US helps fight the British and the French but not the fellow authoritarian Ruskies, so you can get Commie Germany overrunning western Europe and then a stalemate in the east whenever the US refuse to share any atomic secrets and St Petersburg can't get blown to shit.

The PoD could be Italy entering on the Entente's side, and while this helps the Entente Powers a little it breaks Italy in the process.

As for white Russia and the US having a non-aggression pact, that could work. The Russians and Americans had one in TL-191, as far as I can tell, and the Soviets and Japanese had one IOTL. Perhaps Russia becomes a US ally post-war?
