The following is a transcription of a speech given by Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon during the Anaxes War College symposium, "The Tarkin Legacy: An Open Discussion on the Tarkin Doctrine and its Consequences" Ladies and gentlemen, first of all I want to thank everyone for giving an old war horse like me the opportunity to give his two credits. I'll be as brief as I can and skip over the critiques of the Tarkin Doctrine that the speakers before me have provided. They have done a far better job of skewering the old ways than I ever could. But, as always, I must be the dissenter! This is an open forum, after all, and I would do you all a great disservice if I did not give a contrary opinion. Our Empire has long accepted a certain orthodox doctrine on the matter of the Death Star. Orthodoxies have a way of becoming dogmas in our Empire, just as the Tarkin Doctrine was not questioned. In the spirit of reform and openness that our Empress has called for, I will challenge this orthodoxy.
